Men's Wellness Advocate

Position Overview
The Men's Wellness Advocate focuses on outreach, engagement, education, advocacy, and resource navigation for communities disproportionately impacted by people living with and/or at risk for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), and other underserved populations — including mental health challenges, substance use, housing insecurity, stigma, and barriers to care.
The Advocate builds authentic relationships within the community while helping participants access culturally responsive services, wellness programming, and supportive resources that promote healing, empowerment, and long-term stability.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct community outreach and engagement to connect individuals with BMX programs and services.
- Provide peer-based support, encouragement, and wellness education to participants.
- Assist clients with referrals and linkage to healthcare, mental health services, housing support, employment resources, and social services.
- Facilitate support groups, workshops, wellness sessions, and community events.
- Promote HIV prevention, treatment adherence, sexual health awareness, and risk reduction strategies.
- Build and maintain relationships with community partners, service providers, and stakeholders in the wellness space.
- Maintain accurate documentation, participant records, and reporting in line with organizational policies.
- Support outreach through social media, canvassing, tabling events, and community partnerships.
- Advocate for marginalized men and underserved communities while promoting dignity, equity, and inclusion.
- Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and professional development opportunities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Passion for community wellness, advocacy, and Black health equity.
- Experience working with diverse populations, including Black and Brown communities, LGBTQ/SGL individuals, people living with HIV, and other underserved populations.
- Strong interpersonal communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
- Experience in outreach, peer support, case management, behavioral health, public health, or community organizing preferred.
- Knowledge of local health and social service systems is a plus.
- High school diploma or GED required; relevant lived experience highly valued.
- Reliable transportation is preferred.

Work Environment
This position may involve community-based outreach, evening or weekend events, and local travel. The Advocate should be comfortable engaging with community members in various settings including clinics, community centers, outreach events, and virtual environments.
